Oklahoma City concrete flooring specialists Thomas and Josh Owens used six Rapid Set® products to repair and finish 22,000 square feet of cracked and uneven slab – Owens Concrete Staining’s largest installation of TRU® SP polished concrete topping.
When working with very-early-strength Rapid Set® Concrete Mix, anything a crew can do to streamline processes gives them more time to optimize placement. Contractor HRI deployed multiple tactics to streamline partial-depth bridge deck replacement for the Pennsylvania DOT.

When a tall truck took out a Texas bridge, the state DOT wanted new concrete cross beams placed within 24 hours to minimize traffic disruption. The deadline was met because Hunter Industries used Rapid Set® Concrete Mix, Rapid Set® FLOW Control, and Rapid Set® SET Control to make the 10 concrete pedestals required to support the cross beams.
A concrete plinth protects mechanical equipment from floodwater and the floor slab below by evenly distributing the equipment's weight. Here, contractor Gonzalez-De La Garza & Associates used Rapid Set® Concrete Mix, FLOW Control, and SET Control to install 4000-psi concrete pads over an existing slab as part of a boiler installation at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.
After removing the concrete around the manholes, the collars were reset to the correct elevations using Concrete Mix. SET Control was used when temperatures rose. With no delays, crews met the construction schedule.
Approximately 7 to 8 miles of freeway needed potholes repaired. Concrete Mix was chosen for its high early strength so repairs could be made overnight. The lanes were successfully open for traffic each morning.
Cement All, Concrete Mix and LevelFlor were used to restore the existing floors and create a smooth surface. TXP Fast Epoxy Primer, TRU Self-Leveling, and TRU Self-Leveling Spiked Rollers were used to create the polished concrete overlay.
To renovate the 19,000 square-foot space with minimal interruptions to operations, the deck was divided into sections so that a portion of the pool area remained open to guests at all times. CR Concrete Resurfacer, Mortar Mix and Concrete Mix were used to make repairs. Thanks to the fast-curing Rapid Set products, delays due to rainfall were able to be made up and the project completed on time and within budget.
The flooring of the newly purchased space needed to be rehabbed to match both the higher elevation and the polished finish of the restaurant’s existing concrete floor. Concrete Mix, Concrete Leveler and TRU Self-Leveling were used. By using Rapid Set products, polished concrete flooring was able to be installed in less than a week’s time.
Trench and sidewalk repairs were performed with Concrete Mix. It was mixed with FAST additive and warm water to increase set times.
The runway lights on the airfield needed to be replaced, and spec requirements required a product that would be close to 5,000 psi in a 24-48 hours. After Concrete Mix with Flow Control and Set Control showed 7,900 psi in 24 hours, the material was used in the replacement of 26 lights. By using two bags at a time, the project schedule dropped from two months down to three weeks.
Concrete Mix was used to level the seven concrete pads inside this airport's electrical and mechanical rooms. SET Control was used to extend the working time due to the hot temperature setting time and FLOW Control was used to enhance the flow consistency.
The concrete subsurface was in dismal condition, with extensive craters and divots throughout. Contractors had to bring these numerous voids level to the adjacent concrete surface. Products used include Cement All, Concrete Mix, and LevelFlor.
The George Washington Bridge carries more than 106 million vehicles a year, making it the world’s busiest motor-vehicle bridge. The pothole-riddled north- and south-bound access ramps that connect the bridge to New York State Route 9A needed to be repaired. The Port Authority needed to reopen the busy ramps in a timely manner to not disrupt traffic patterns. Products used include Concrete Mix and DOT Cement.
A refrigerator floor in Honor Foods’ busy Springfield, Mass. location needed repairs. The work needed to be done with minimal downtime to not disrupt services or damage perishable foods. Product used was Concrete Mix.
John Deere's McDonough distribution center’s concrete floor had become uneven over time, with large hollow areas (holes) forming where joints met. Since the business of getting needed parts to customers could not be disrupted, repairs had to be done quickly and during limited time frames each day. Product used was Concrete Mix.
The retailer wanted an aesthetically pleasing surface that could withstand the high traffic of both customers and their pets. Work had to be scheduled around store hours, with the floor ready for foot traffic by the time the store opened for business each morning. Product used was Concrete Mix.
Tri-State Underlayments/Franz Floors only had four days to restore 1,200 sq ft of the existing flooring before interior framing began. For this reason, the contractor chose to use Rapid Set cement products to install the flooring, because they set quickly to produce 3,000 psi in one hour and full strength of 8,000 psi in one day. Products used include Concrete Mix, FLOW Control, SET Control, TXP Primer, TRU Self-Leveling.
The Pentagon Renovation restores or replaces all building system components. Concrete repair, both interior and exterior, is a fundamental and necessary part of the renovation. PENREN, the governing agency for the renovations, dictated the repairs must last 50 years. Products used include Concrete Mix and Mortar Mix.
