Rapid Set Skim Coat can be used as an underlayment on concrete and structurally sound plywood. Please contact your local CTS Cement representative for more information on other applications.
Skim Coat is not designed to be a finished floor surface. It may be used a wear surface when coated with a protective topping or finished flooring.
Surface must be clean, sound and free from any materials that may inhibit bond, such as oil, dirt, mastic, asphalt, sealing compounds, acids, wax and loose debris. It must be mechanically abraded by grinding, shot blasting, or other approved methods. Plywood surfaces must be structurally sound, rigid and properly adhered.
At temperatures of 70 degrees, the working time of Rapid Set Skim Coat is approximately 30-40 minutes. Cold materials and water will slow down the set time, while warm materials and water will speed up the set time.
Rapid Set Skim Coat can be applied in thicknesses from featheredge up to 1 inch deep for small fill areas.
A primer may be used but is not required on most properly prepared concrete substrates. A primer is required between lifts in multiple lift application.
Rapid Set Acrylic Primer may be used but is not required on most properly prepared concrete substrates.
Yes, Epoxy or urethane coatings may be used to seal Skim Coat when required.
Use up to 1 packet of Flow Control if required per 20-lb bag of Rapid Set Skim Coat.
