Rapid Set Technology

Rapid Set cement-based products achieve structural strength in approximately one hour. Other key characteristics of the products include low shrinkage, low permeability, and superior resistance to sulfate attack, all of which contribute to the exceptional durability. Unlike other fast setting cements, Rapid Set is a single, stand-alone cement manufactured in a cement kiln. It does not contain any portland cement or other additives. Its low carbon footprint makes it a more sustainable alternative to portland cement.

Rapid Strength

Rapid Set is a fast-setting belitic calcium sulfoaluminate (BCSA) cement. Upon mixing with water, the calcium sulfoaluminate in Rapid Set reacts to create interlocking crystals of ettringite, which cause rapid strength development. This allows the concrete or mortar to be in service quickly, minimizing downtime and allowing a job to be finished sooner. Rapid Set cement products save you time and money.

Durability

Decades of proven in-service performance, extensive independent testing, and collaborative industry and academic testing programs demonstrate the exceptional durability of Rapid Set cement products. They exhibit low shrinkage, which minimizes cracking potential. They also exhibit exceptional sulfate resistance and reduced risk of alkali silica reactivity that can deteriorate concrete. All these factors contribute to the excellent durability of Rapid Set cement products. Rapid Set Cement meets the performance requirements of ASTM C1600 for Rapid Hardening Hydraulic Cements.

Sustainability

The carbon footprint of Rapid Set cement products are significantly lower than portland cement products. Production of Rapid Set Cement emits far less CO2 than portland cement due to its unique chemistry and lower processing temperatures. The combination of high durabilty and environmentally friendly cement creates a very sustainable material.

Komponent Technology

Komponent shrinkage-compensating cement technology is engineered to provide a higher quality cement that improves the overall quality of the concrete or grout application. It overcomes the key shortcomings of traditional portland cement, like excessive shrinkage, susceptibility to sulfate attack, and destructive reactions with certain aggregates. Komponent is used in all types of concrete structures and elements to overcome drying shrinkage, prevent shrinkage cracking, and improve the dimensional stability of the concrete.

Eliminate Shrinkage Cracking

Komponent offers an effective and economical way to eliminate cracking caused by drying shrinkage. It prevents detrimental tensile stresses that lead to shrinkage cracking and overcomes drying shrinkage and edge curling . By improving the overall quality of the concrete, joints can be minimized or eliminated and costly measures used to overcome restraint-to shortening challenges can be prevented. Repair and maintenance costs are also substantially reduced.

Reduce Joints and Curling

Komponent can be installed in large placements, up to 25,000 square feet or more, without control joints. Komponent Shrinkage-Compensating Concrete allows joint spacing up to 150 feet in typical slab-on-grade applications. Post-tension designs can achieve up to 1,200 feet with no joints. Eliminating saw cuts and joint treatment allows for savings during installation and long-term joint maintenance costs. Curling at panel edges is eliminated, and corner breaks, spall repairs and dominant joints are prevented.
