Q: What is TRU™ and what can it be used for?
A: Rapid Set® TRU™ is a Self-Leveling Topping, Resurfacer, and Underlayment. TRU™ can be used for topping new or old concrete to fill low spots and correct unevenness; resurfacing old concrete to provide a new, fresh appearance; as an underlayment under tile or carpet; or as a patching and repair material for horizontal surfaces.
Q: Can Rapid Set® TRU™ Self-Leveling be polished or stained?
A: Rapid Set® TRU™ is ideal for decorative applications and takes stains and dyes, as well as integral color (liquid). TRU™ polishes to a high luster, and does not turn pasty or gummy as other self leveling products often do. TRU™ can be polished the next day.
Q: Does Rapid Set® TRU™ Self-Leveling require a special primer or bonding agent?
A: Although not required for bonding, Rapid Set® TRU™ does require a primer. Porous substrates have trapped air that releases when a topping is poured on, migrating to the surface and causing pinholes and bubbles. A primer seals the surface of the substrate, preventing pinholes and bubbles.
Q: What type of primer should I use with Rapid Set® TRU™ Self-Leveling?
A: Rapid Set® Acrylic Primer is specially formulated for maximum compatibility with TRU™.
Q: How should I mix TRU™ and can TRU™ be pumped?
A: Rapid Set® TRU™ can be mixed in buckets or barrels with a 650 rpm drill and paddle mixer that will entrap little air, or mixed by a continuous mixer and pumped with a mortar pump.
Q: Is TRU™ as fast as other Rapid Set® products?
A: Rapid Set® TRU™ allows much more working time than typical Rapid Set® products. At 70° F, TRU™ allows approximately 30 minutes working time with a 15 minute flow life.
